Collection: John Edmund Mace

John Edmund Mace (1889-1952) was a landscape painter and marine artist who during the World War I conflict serviced in France as an Official War Artist. He also produced several posters for all the railway companies at that time mainly though for the London Midland Scottish region, one in particular entitled 'Carlyon Bay Hotel, Par, Cornwall. He was elected RBA in 1934 and also showed at the Grosvenor Gallery, Walker Art Gallery, London Salon, RA, RI, RMS and ROI. Moving to Torquay in the late 1930s, he produced numerous watercolours and drawings of local scenes, plus views of Italy where he travelled extensively. His work is in the collections of NRM and Torre Abbey Historic House and Gallery.
