E.E Henry - Ebenezer Elijah Henry was born on September 19, 1928 he was the youngest of 5 boys, and the only Henry photographer to make a name for himself. He grew up on a farm and fruit orchard in Oshawa.

He attended Starkey Seminary in Eddytown N.Y. This is where he most likely met Harriet Eliza Mills. They married in 1850 when he was 22 yrs old. They lived in Port Hope ON. He was the third photographer to set up shop in Port Hope, ON in approximately 1857. They moved to Kansas in 1864 and opened a photography studio there. His studio produced ambrotype photographs, daguerreotypes, engravings, painted portraits and other artwork. In Kansas he captured life in the “Wild West: including photographing Buffalo Bill. He also took the only photograph of General Sheridan’s horse “Winchester Bill”. In a letter written to his father he says “I will also send you a picture of the horse General Sheridan rode at the Battle of Winchester when he made such a gallant display. I went up to the Fort and took the Horse. The General sent his carriage down for me. He was coming to let me take his likeness but was suddenly called away.” - via
