According to Vent Haven Museum curator Lisa Sweasy, this fake police report is a promotional card created by Harry Lester, a.k.a. "The Great Lester," a turn-of-the-century vaudeville performer and ventriloquist.
"It's one of those things where people were trying to distinguish themselves from one another as entertainers," Sweasy said. "This was a cute little novelty; Lester had a great sense of humor and was great at marketing himself."
