Finnur Magnússon (also known as Finn Magnusen ) ( August 27, 1781 - December 24, 1847 ) was an Icelandic archaeologist and keeper of secret archives in Copenhagen and one of the leading runeologists in the Nordic countries. Finn's father was Magnús Ólafsson, a lawyer from Svefney, and Finn's uncle was Eggert Ólafsson, a naturalist and poet. Finn's mother was Ragnheiður, daughter of the bishop Finn Jónsson .
