Decorative designer and lithographer George de Feure 91868 - 1843). Born in Paris as the son of Dutch and Belgian parents. Active in Amsterdam 1886-1889. In 1890 went to Paris, studied under Jules Cheret and adopted the name 'de Feure'. His poster designs and illustrations attracted the attention of Siegfried Bing. Produced interior furnishings and fittings for Bing's gallery. Exhibited furniture and ceramics at the Salon de la Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts in 1894. By 1899 was working principally for Bing. Founded his own independent Atelier de Feure with the German architect Theodor Cossmann. He later designed for the theatre and taught at the Ecole Nationale des Beaux-Arts. Died in Paris. - British Museum
